xTool Laser Cutting Settings

Which xTool Machine Do You Have? (Read This First)

xTool machines fall into two main categories, and your acrylic-cutting results depend heavily on which one you own:

  • xTool P2 / P2S (CO₂ 55W)Best for acrylic. Cuts all colors (including clear) and all common thicknesses up to 20 mm in one pass.
  • xTool S1 (Diode 10–40W)Good for dark/opaque acrylic only. Cannot cut clear acrylic. Slower cutting, often requires multiple passes.
  • Other diode/hybrid xTool models (M1 Ultra, F1, etc.) – Limited to thin, dark acrylic only. Not recommended for clear acrylic.

Acrylic Plexiglass Cutting Guide – xTool Systems

Below are recommended starting-point settings for the most common acrylic thicknesses we sell at Delvie’s Plastics. These settings assume cast acrylic with air assist ON and clean lenses. Always run your own test grid, then fine-tune.

xTool P2 / P2S (55W CO₂) – Recommended Acrylic Settings

Thickness Power Speed (mm/s) Passes
1/8" (3 mm) 100% 30–50 1
3/16" (4.5 mm) 100% 20–35 1
1/4" (6 mm) 100% 15–30 1
3/8" (9 mm) 100% 8–15 1
1/2" (12 mm) 100% 5–12 1
Up to 20 mm 100% 1–5 1

Important:
These settings work for all colors, including clear, black, white, translucent, frosted, and mirror.

xTool S1 (10–40W Diode) – Recommended Acrylic Settings (Opaque Only)

Diode machines cannot cut clear acrylic. These settings are for dark/opaque colors only.

Thickness Power Speed (mm/s) Passes
1/8" (3 mm) 100% 3–10 1–3
3/16" (4.5 mm) 100% 2–6 2–4
1/4" (6 mm) 100% 1–5 2–5

Other xTool Models (M1 Ultra, F1, etc.)

These machines use lower-powered diode or hybrid beams. They are not recommended for clear acrylic and generally only cut:

  • Opaque dark acrylic
  • Thin sheets, typically 1/8″
  • Multiple passes required
  • Cutting quality varies widely between models

Provide these settings only as a broad note:

Thickness Power Speed (mm/s) Passes
1/8" (3 mm) 100% 2–8 2–6

Important Notes

  • The settings above are best-practice starting points only.
  • xTool’s CO₂ machines (P2 / P2S) cut all acrylic types and colors, including clear.
  • xTool’s diode machines cannot cut clear acrylic, only opaque/dark colors.
  • Cutting speeds may vary based on your specific machine, alignment, and material.
  • Always monitor your laser, never walk away while it is cutting.
  • If your cut isn’t clean: slow your speed slightly, improve airflow, or clean optics.
